homeless womanTina Marie Brown, Fairborn Ohio Aglow Lighthouse President, was going about her business just crossing a street, when she felt the gentle nudge of the Holy Spirit directing her attention to a woman in need, prompting her to reach out with the love of God.

Tina writes…

Recently I had the privilege of showing the unconditional love of Jesus to a homeless woman. I am so humbled and honored that the Lord used me. While waiting to cross the street in downtown Dayton, I was reminded of Matthew 25:40 'What you did for the least of these you have done unto Me'.

You see, I noticed a homeless woman in front of me. She had all her worldly possessions in two tattered bags. I heard the Lord whisper, 'pray for her and give her ___ dollars.'  My heart started beating wildly as we crossed the street. She turned left and I was going right. I heard, 'Do it now!' so I tapped her on the shoulder. I had frightened her, fear was in her eyes as she turned towards me. What she didn't know was that I was just as nervous as she was.

I asked if I could pray for her, and I placed the money in her glove covered hand. When I said, 'Jesus Loves You,’ the fear left her eyes and she bowed her head. All at once she lunged into my chest. I wrapped my arms around her and prayed in her ear. Then I looked her in the eyes and said again, 'Jesus Loves You very much!'  She smiled and shook her head in agreement. Her face was bright with hope. She thanked me and kissed me on the cheek. It was precious.

I have cried many times since then. I wondered when the last time was that someone hugged her or told her she was loved. I have tears in my eyes now just thinking of being ‘Jesus in the flesh for one of the least of these’.  I will never forget her.  I am honored that the Lord used me!
