Claudia Stokes and her husbandClaudia Stokes and her husbandHuman trafficking is an outrageous crime, an attack against those who were created in God’s very image, an attempt to enslave and control. Aglow has a role to play in the abolition of slavery and human trafficking in the 21st century.

For 2 years now, Claudia Stokes, President of Southeast Texas Aglow, and her husband, have run a race entitled “Just Run for a Just Cause” benefiting ministries that are working to end the tragedy of human trafficking and slavery, and particularly sex trafficking. The event is sponsored by her church (Kingsland Baptist Church) in Katy, Texas.

This year 1,200 individuals participated in the run. As Claudia points out, “Events like this one inform, educate and bring awareness to the church and the whole community about this critical issue.  God has heard their cry.  Help and rescue are on the way! The proceeds from the $35 registration fee go to Redeemed Ministries, my church, and others who minister and help liberate those enslaved by human sex trafficking.  If you recall, Redeemed Ministries were the recipients for Aglow's Gifts to the City at the 2011 Worldwide Aglow Conference here in Houston.”

Aglow has three action steps which we believe allow us to become involved in meaningful ways:

Our Actions Steps are:

  1. Support an anti-trafficking organization through prayer as a ministry.
  2. Partner with local anti-trafficking organizations in your community.
  3. Receive and spread awareness about anti-trafficking.

Get involved in a hands-on Way:

Send a card to a trafficking survivor in care of Rescue Freedom.  Our current card project has been extended through January 15th.  Spread the word and encourage friends and family to send an encouraging card to a boy or girl in Central Asia.  Find more details here.
