Child with arms raised
Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
Isaiah 58:6

Prayer breaks chains and gives favor that is supernatural. It enables rescue and puts people in the right place at the right time.

Prayer and Summer Project: Send an Encouraging Card!

Greetings!

It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to write, I apologize for that. We’re hard at work here at the Aglow HQ editing the anti-trafficking DVD and hope to have it ready for you soon, along with a packet that you can use to present your own anti-trafficking seminar in your community. Great news? We think so! I’m also excited to announce that it’s time again for anti-trafficking encouragement cards! Read on for more details…

Get Involved – Send An Encouraging Card

Your prayers mean so much to the women and children that Rescue: Freedom serves. Jeremy Vallerand, President of Rescue: Freedom International, explained how impactful it is to share with those they are supporting that people outside their nation are thinking of them and praying for them. As many as 1/3 of the children in the homes that Rescue: Freedom supports are orphans. Knowing that people pray for them is like a lifeline in their world – their world is so small – many have no family and it means so much to know that YOU ARE praying… that people around the world are thinking of them.. This makes an impact. So how can you participate in a new opportunity to reach out?

Send a card or letter.

We are asking that you would pray over the Rescue: Freedom prayer requests as I send them out each month this summer, and send a card or letter to Aglow International Headquarters following the steps below:

  1. Pick a home.
The cards will go to India (where there are about 300 kids) or Thailand (where there are 14 kids). Each safe house houses children who have been rescued from brothels in that nation. Please note on the card or envelope who you are sending your card to:
    1. Safe House 1: India, young girls (ages 5 – 12)
    2. Safe House 2: India, older girls (ages 13 – 18)
    3. Safe House 3: India, Program Graduates (Ages 18+)
    4. Safe House 4: India, boys (ages 5 – 18)
    5. Safe House 5: Thailand girls (ages 5 – 18)
    6. Safe House 6: Thailand boys (ages 5 – 18)
    7. Group 7:  Encouragement note to house mom/house dad/leadership
  2. Write an encouraging card or letter.
  3. Write an encouraging card or letter. You and/or your group may send multiple cards/letters, as long as you specify which house each card/letter goes to. Cards from children and grandchildren are also allowed and encouraged. Here are some general guidelines.

You may:

  • Write an encouraging note.
  • Write a scripture.
  • Tell them you’re praying for them.
  • Include a picture of you or your Aglow group, so they can see who their new praying friend is, across the world!
  • Decorate with stickers or stamps.
  • Or you may simply write “I’m praying for you!” and sign your name/State/Country.

What to pray for/write in prayer?

  • Let them know you’re praying for their education, which is a true hope and lifeline for them.
  • Encourage them in their potential in Christ, ability to pursue their dreams, their destiny, vision for their life, and that God will raise them up as leaders.
  • Encourage them in their future; that God has good things in store for them, community, love, and ability to pursue their dreams.

Please do not:

  • DO NOT address their trauma. Prayers proclaiming freedom from bondage, etc. should be prayed, but not written in these cards or letters. Speak to their future, rather than their past.
  • DO NOT address family. As many as 1/3 of these children are orphans, and to say you are praying for their family is not something that will apply to everyone.
  1. Send the card, or card(s) by August 30, 2016.
Send your cards and letters in, let's flood the children with greetings!  Your cards/letters must be sent to Aglow International by August 30th. They will be given to the children, on site, by Rescue: Freedom in September.

Get Involved – PRAY!

We love to partner with Rescue: Freedom in prayer.  Let’s continue praying for housing for RF, for the house leaders, and for healing of those in the RF homes.  Here is a very specific prayer request, based on a recent situation, but that applies to many of the homes the Rescue: Freedom serves:

“Please pray for a young girl who was recently taken out of a safe home by her parents and placed back in a brothel. Pray that, even in the midst of a dark place, the things she learned while at the Safe Home would stay with her. Please pray that the LORD would lead all Safe Home staff as they seek to bring in more girls from the brothel. Lastly, please pray for the fathers. This not the first time a father has put pressure on a girl’s mother to remove her from a Safe Home. Please pray that the Safe Homes would be able to maintain a good rapport with these men, and that they would be open to the Message of Hope.”

Standing in the gap with you,

jessica
