From street ministry to extending loving arms in a hospital oncology ward, Aglow Latvia continues to minister wherever the Lord leads them.
Lasma Sastakovica, Aglow Latvia National Assistant writes, “We continue to minister in villages to the women who are in spiritual and material poverty. The situation is hard, but praise the Lord for faithful ministers who are willing to follow the call to ministry; who are willing to accept the challenge to minister to those in the deepest poverty. We are thankful to our Lord that He allows us to touch these souls.”
Lasma’s daughter, together with group of young people, are participating more and more with the Aglow Latvia outreach teams in villages, and with social work.
Ministry to the Homeless
While ministering on the streets, the team encountered a woman who was homeless and heavily abusing alcohol. Finding a safe place for her to stay, the team helped her to get cleaned up, took her for a health check-up, and helped her fill out the paperwork to get government assistance.
National Children’s Oncology Hospital
Lasma said, “God is providing us with the grace to minister in the National Children’s Oncology Hospital. Our Sister Svetlana is following the call to care for children and families who are touched by this disease. During the summer we had the opportunity to hold Bible studies each time we visited the hospital. Our ministry receives a monthly list of children with updates for prayer needs. We have watched God move on the heart of one of the nurses to be open to the ministry. Originally resistant to our visits, during our last visit she personally invited children to the meeting.”
Ministry To Jewish Believers
Aglow Latvia is building relationship with many Jewish believers and a pastor from Belorussia, Vladimir. Recently, they were able to give clothing, shoes, and food to 40 Jewish believers who stopped by their church.
