Matteson Single Moms Annual Winter Ball

The Matteson IL Generations Singles Mom Group has been affiliated with Aglow since 2012. They have been so faithful in caring for mothers and children in their community. They host events throughout the year including: coat drives, back-to-school supply drives, Valentine’s luncheons, Christmas parties, fashion shows, community speakers, events and more.

let it snowLouise Dawkins serves on the Illinois - Chicago South Suburban Area Team and helped start this group from the beginning and has walked closely with the leaders. They currently have a wonderful leader, Lisa, and have seen growth over this last year. Their biggest prayer request is for more leaders and volunteers to serve the growing numbers.
Some of their great testimonies have been seeing the Moms receive answered prayers and realizing how much God loves and cares for them. Louise said some women are assigned to be praying over the group and the moms.

This last year they have been seeing an impact of those prayers. Many moms have received promotions, new jobs, new homes, marriage and have grown in confidence. It would be great for you to add this group to your prayer list as they really bless moms, families, children, and their community. They did a winter coat distribution, and below is the report of their Winter Ball.

Christmas 2019 in Chicagoland was a glorious celebration! Our Matteson Single Moms group hosted a Winter Ball for single moms, their children and loved ones. The aroma which filled the room was that of happiness and joy. The decorations were carefully designed and staged to transform the space into a welcoming wintry eat and play land. There were giant gingerbread men and ice skating snow families.

In front of our sponsor's company backdrop, children amused themselves with life sized Checkers and Connect 4 games. In addition, there were inspirational take-home crafts and good old-fashioned Bozo Buckets! A favorite was something new this year, "Good Grade Gift Shop" where parents signed off that their children did well in school and that signed voucher allowed the children to select a gift that they could give to someone they love.

The coordination of this event was no small task as it required the help of many hands. Between Toys for Tots, Chamber 57 and the RTDO, there were over 300 unwrapped toys donated. The Insurance Professionals sponsorship provided an easily accessible and convenient location with an attentive staff that was bar none. And, of course, our leaders and volunteers stepped in to make things even more spectacular than what the moms imagined it would be. Hats off to all for a phenomenal event! Merry Christmas to all and ‘to all a good night!’
