The Generations Group of Matteson, IL has been thriving for over 10 years. The Group was originally formed as a support for Single Moms and their children. They host, plan and do monthly activities and outreaches to bless moms and local families.
Louise Dawkins, the woman who started the group said that the growth she has seen is astounding. Some of the moms have married, started new careers, and purchased homes as they have grown in confidence. They have prayer support set up for the moms and families and have really seen God answer bold prayers.
The Group was able to utilize Zoom through COVID which helped them keep moving forward and supporting each other in prayer. They have been so blessed this year to start in-person gatherings again!
In April, a Great Lakes Credit Union hosted a Finance Literacy Event for the Moms. The event was very interactive and the moms really learned a lot. It was a blessing that the bank opened up its doors during non-business hours to host and teach important financial tools to the moms. They had refreshments and it was a wonderful time for all.
