Torrance Christmas Play

On December 12, 2022, the Torrance Community Lighthouse had an incredible event, a play, that celebrated the Glorious birth of Christ. The play was planned and written by Marianne Matsuda, LA County Area President. The outstanding cast were the officers and active members of Torrance Community Lighthouse.

We began with the history and celebration of Hanukkah, and then the unfolding of the Miracle, of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The announcers, Mary, Isaiah, Elizabeth, Angels, Shepherd, and Simeon, were dressed in their costumes which brought us right into that period of time of Isaiah 9, Luke 1 and 2.

The cast members were amazing, strong, and moving! It was like we were all there from the announcement of the Coming of the Liberator, the Joy Bringer, the Peacemaker, the Lord Jesus Christ to the holiness of His Birth! The audience sang out and joined us as we led Silent Night (also in Hawaiian with hula), Joy to the World, Angels We Have Heard on High.

A solo of Mary Did You Know and O Holy Night, along with testimonies bearing witness of our Peace from John 16:33 brought people to tears of Joy! We closed this part of the play with You Are Lord and Amen, Amen, Amen! Then, we had the 13 candles lit to proclaim thirteen promises from His Word and our response as we received it into our lives and our families.

The cast members all expressed how they felt His Presence even as we rehearsed the night before. His Presence just overflowed upon everyone the next day. They just stayed on after the program just feeling deeply blessed!

Before the play, we had a delicious feast, and sang Christmas songs led with the ukulele and guitar strummers, and a drummer who used a box because she forgot her drums and beat it to the song of the Drummer Boy. We also had maracas and bells for the audience to keep in the timing and rocking to the beat. The audience learned the Hawaiian tune of Mele Kalikimaka with Kylie dancing the hula. It was quite a day! Jesus, You are Lord!
