Glad Tidings Of Great Joy

Can you believe that Christmas Day is less than a month away!

This is the time of year when we get out the Christmas decorations that have been stored away since the last holiday season. Many memories flood our mind as we look at things that remind us of Christmases past. Treasured, special times we have had with family and friends.

What a joyous time of year this is. The air is filled with preparation, expectation, and excitement as we move towards the day when we celebrate the birth of Jesus.

There is also another kind of expectation and preparation that is taking place as we anticipate the second coming of Jesus. It is the preparation of the inner person; the heart and mind. We are experiencing the unfolding of our personal story in ways that bring fullness of joy; more joy than we’ve ever known. We are experiencing the coming of Jesus anew in our hearts and all that He came to do in us and through us as we learn to abide in the life He came to give us. What a gift!

We are learning to abide in Christ...learning to abide in the new nature that has been given to us. We are being re-programmed by the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives so that we no longer function out of the old nature. We are learning to live in the new nature Jesus came to give us. It is life with a new center, a new focus and new mindsets.

The curse of living in negative ways, thoughts, and reactions has been broken by sacrifice. Jesus took all negativity. It was laid on Him at Calvary. He bore it in His own body so we could be free. He took all of our afflictions - mental, emotional, physical and spiritual.

The enemy comes to attack us, to occupy our attention, to bring fear, worry, and all the “what if’s.” His purpose is always to bring us low. He comes to intimidate, but we are turning his intimidation to courage, peace, great joy and awe.

Remember the words of the angel of the Lord as He spoke to the shepherds following the birth of Jesus. "Behold, I bring you good tiding of great joy which will be to all people."

In the words of the traditional French Carol, "Angels We Have Heard on High," this oft sung phrase takes on new meaning.

Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strains prolong?
What the gladsome tidings be
Which inspire your heavenly song?
Gloria in excelsis Deo;
Gloria in excelsis Deo.

Jesus came to make all things new.

He came to bring us glad tidings of great joy.

As we make preparations for this Christmas, seek quiet spaces to hear His voice each day. Let your heart continually be turned towards Him and the joy He came to give you.

Dear Jane,
Your commets rang a bell with me.....it is a time of excitement, expectation, and great joy. I just got back from upstate New York to visit my son in his first home, a small farm....so beautiful is the setting, so peaceful, so serene. Every place I looked I saw the hand of God. In the backyard I look up and there are mountains, to each side, all kinds of pine trees, mingled in with river birch, then here comes a Bald Eagle soaring by....ALL created by the Lord for US, and then if that wasn't enough, He sent us a Babe in the manger....just for US. This time of the year is always a time of reflection and appreciation for me. I weep more easily,I am moved more easily, I have more compassion and understanding for those who are different from myself. I SEE Jesus in others because I feel so close to Him as I seek HIM and the things of the day or this world we live in with all its distractions, grow strangely dim. Thank you for your thoughts and words of wisdom.

I am new to Aglow and must tell you that I have been blessed at EVERY meeting I have attended.

Have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a BLESSED HAPPY NEW YEAR...knowing the LORD has much to reveal to all of us as we draw near to His return.

In His Service and Love,
Patsy Borchers

Yes, Jane, although we do not know the time or the Season, the "Rapture of the Church" could very well be our Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Hi Jane,

I neeeded to read what you shared about how the enemy comes to steal our joy especially this time of the season. Thanks for warning us of how he comes to work against us to distract us from our great victory in Jesus.

Thank you Jane...
I am sensing the same thing. That of preparing our hearts and throwing off the old nature. God's word has become more precious to me and when the old nature wants to rear up, Holy Spirit reminds me of the Word that has been planted and those words that are of the new nature come forth in my spirit and that avoids much of what the old nature tries to do. When we seek Him, holiness, purity, integrity and harmony will be the result.

Dear Stormy,

I just wanted you to know that, at first, people believed the deception my former husband talked himself into believing, too, but, over time, more and more people, including my own child, saw through the haze. Keep growing closer to Jesus and remember to daily bind the enemy, and all evil, away from yourself, your children, and your ministry. God has begun to really bless me, with this training, from Aglow! Romans 8:28 is always true. : )

Hi Jane,
Yes I agree with the statement that our lives have a new center, a new focus and a new mind set. I am reminded what Graham Cooke said at the conference, "I have a new mind set for you, I have things for you to say that will affect those people around you." Thus says the Lord !!!! A new mind set has started since the conference. LYN(Love Your Neighbor) has transitioned to Transformation. The Lord has opened the door for me to go on my first mission trip to the Philippines in March. Several doors have opened in the Mid Atlantic Region to speak on this topic of transition and to continuing to evangelize our neighborhoods, our communities, our state, the USA and the world. Just this past Sunday I preached my first sermon in my home church, "How Christian is Your Tongue" The Lord is filling my mouth with messages and praises to Him.

!2 scriptures jump out to me as I trust the Lord to accomplish that which He has spoken to me. One of them is ps 121 where He affirms to us that He is our Keeper! our provider; our leader; our tutor; our Savior! Glory! The other is the one that reads, He will not withhold anything good for those who walk uprightly! He won't withhold anything that's good for me! Wow! What a Keeper we have! He is worthy of my trust! So good is He! Bless Aglow! Karen Logan
