The Generations Project Needs You!

Murdock Foundation Grants Us $50,000 if we Match it

From Evangeline Weiner, Generations Director, Aglow International

We’ve done it!
It is with great pleasure and thanks that I announce that the Generations Project is launching in 2008! Aglow’s vision to see young people released into the Harvest, fulfilling Christ’s mandate to change the world and make disciples of all nations has been funded by a substantial grant and matching gift opportunity if we act together by May 1, 2008!  We are thrilled to be announcing this to you who make the legacy of our work together possible. If each of you gave only $5, we would more than have our match!

For years, Aglow, has heard God’s heart for young women in need of His restoration. We believe that in the same way God brought restoration to women in Aglow in the past, He wants to pour out wholeness on young women today. Through this project, we can all experience fellowship with the Living God, peace within, abundant life, and a lifetime of adventure. Heaven is waiting to burst out into the world through this generation!

I invite you to grab the vision for the Generations Project and how you can be practically involved – through prayer, through outreach and through your continued giving. We are so thankful to be a part of God’s plan on earth, joining together from generation to generation as the women of Aglow!

Where we are going now
In Aglow, we have 40 years of experience in developing passionate leadership and releasing women to change their world. The Generations Project will provide opportunities for mature women with wisdom and ministry experience to be teamed with energetic passionate young women who long for someone to help them develop their gifts, talents and leadership qualities. These are a few ways you can be involved!

The Generations Project is establishing opportunities in these 5 areas:

  • Establishing Aglow Groups (Primarily for ages 18-35)
We are establishing Generations Aglow groups where young women can develop peer relationships and do things together.
  • Establishing Mentor/Coaching Relationships (Primarily for ages 35+)
We are planning to establish mentor/coaching relationships, both individually and group-to-group, where established Aglow women can partner with younger women to help them grow spiritually as well as carry out joint ministry activities.
  • Establishing Internships (For ages 18-24)
We are planning an internship program where young people can become involved in areas of influence in their communities to bring about change.
  • Establishing opportunities to reach out internationally (For ages 18-35)As an international ministry, we are uniquely qualified to team Generations groups with international Aglow groups to facilitate the types of outreach our international women do (such as with HIV/AIDs orphans and families, prison and relief work.)
  • Establishing “Hope Coaches” for U.S. Radio Outreach (Primarily for ages 35+)
We have also formed a partnership with the nationwide radio show “Dawson McAllister Live.” Their mission is to help America’s youth through a talk show program with Hope Coaches who can follow up with troubled young people who phone in, and who are available to talk with them about their area of need.

Testimonies
Because of your prayers and support, we’ve already heard positive responses to the pilot work done in 2007 for the Generations Project. Read these stories and be inspired.

  • Local Leader, Corvalis, MT Lighthouse:
"I feel great about what God is doing in my Young Women’s Mentoring Lighthouse. These gals are so open and flow with love for one another… One of the gals (she’s 20) just received the Baptism last night and flowed in her gift of tongues… The other girls were excited for her and felt that they had been a part of her experience!!!"
  • Kathy Cook, Director of Partnership Development, “Dawson McAllister Live”:
"Partnering with Aglow is one of the most exciting things we have done. Since Aglow has been praying, we have seen more salvations and more teens wanting to go to church. We have it timed to when the Aglow Prayer Network started praying. Aglow women from the South Region are also signing up to be Hope Coaches."
  • Judi Malone, Generations Leader, Southwest Region:
"The night before a meeting with an Area Leadership Team regarding a Generations Project outreach at our 2008 Area Retreat, I had a dream that my 23 year old son died. I interceded fervently for him and tried to call him at college as soon as I thought he would be awake, but he did not answer. At the meeting I asked others to pray and finally my son returned my call. He had accidentally overdosed on cough medicine with codeine. My son knows he is living for God and his life has a purpose. I know that we are reaching a generation that the enemy has tried to sedate and destroy."

Sign-up for more Information
I hope you are as excited about these developments as I am. I invite you to sign up on the enclosed form and send it in the postage-paid envelope so I will know how to get you involved.

A Call to Action
As part of the generous grant we received from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, we as a corporate body must match the $50,000 they are giving to the Generations Project by May 1, 2008. They realize that Aglow is embarking on a big project and they want to make sure that we have the commitment of our Aglow leadership – that’s you! That is the reason for the matching fund requirement.

To reach the young women of today, means we need your prayers and support. We are also calling the leaders of Aglow to make a financial gift for this project. This program is going to cost more than $100,000 in its first year as we create resources and new groups, link up people and groups, train people, and plan and conduct activities.

The Challenge
I know we can do this and we can show the Murdock Trust that we are serious. To that end, let’s agree that we will raise the $50,000 match by May 1, 2008. If everybody pitches in, it won’t be hard and it won’t take long. I know we can do it.

Please choose one of the following ways to get involved in this Project:

God has chosen each of you for his plan and purposes today. I love and appreciate every one of you! "…we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:13
