Aglow Uganda National President, Imelda Bwayo is partnering with One Touch Awakening Ministries of Lake Charles, Lousiana, USA to fight the spread of malaria in Uganda. Malaria is currently one of the leading causes of death in Africa. Most of these deaths occur in children under five years of age. According to UNICEF, one in five of the continent's child deaths are due to malaria - one child dies every 30 seconds.
A mosquito net which costs less than $10 is the best prevention of malaria. One Touch donated 500 nets to Bwayo to distribute among those in need.
Bwayo writes, “It is very important that all persons in the orphanage/family each receive a mosquito net, because if one person is left exposed; he/she is likely to be bitten by malaria carrying mosquitoes. That person will become the source of malaria for other mosquitoes that bite him. Those mosquitoes will then transmit the malaria to other members of the family. If all family members do not have malaria; the mosquitoes in that locality will not spread.” She also added that malaria kills more people in Uganda than HIV/AIDS.
Praise God for His provision for this need. If you'd like to support the work of Aglow in Africa, please contact intl.field@aglow.org.
