Aglow Transformation Team – Russia 2012

Transformation Team - Russia 2012Fran Hallgren, Delta Junction Alaska Lighthouse President and Transformation Director Assistant, led a 6 person team to Russia from May 18 - June 2.  The Russia 2012 Transformation Team visited the cities of Berdsk, Novosibirsk, Novgorod Veliky, and St. Petersburg.  The focus of the trip was to reach out to Sami villages, encourage Aglow groups, and minister personally to those who have been abused, “releasing sweetness to the depressed and oppressed.”  14 events were held during the trip reaching over 500 people.

Berdsk

In Berdsk, Aglow groups and local churches joined together for 3 days, including  a Sunday morning service.  As the messages were preached, the team saw “the radiance of God come across their faces, as hearts were relieved of fear, rejection, abandonment, betrayal, and grief”.

The team also did 20 in-home visits for those unable to come to the meetings due to physical limitations. This type of ministry was new to Aglow in Berdsk, and they were amazed at the results.

On one of the visits, the team prayed for a woman  and sensed that God had touched her. The woman put on praise music, then pulled out scarves and began to dance.  The team also began to wave scarves and then invited everyone to dance in and out of the 'healing billows'.  The presence of the Lord became so strong after this, that the team decided to pray for everyone present and in particular to pray for those with back problems.  One of the Transformation Team members testified that when her mother read the email report of the prayer time at the woman’s house, she felt a strong presence from the Lord.  The following day she went forward for prayer at her church, and her back was healed too!

Mary, one team member who has a special anointing to minister to the dying, was taken to the “harder” cases.  After seeing Mary pray for several people, Vera Tsys, Aglow Russia National President, commented that she truly did have a special gift to bring the comfort of God to the hearts of these people and their families. They also had some divine appointments along the way including ministering to a man with no feet.

The team visited a rehab center in a very poor place located 2 hours outside of Berdsk.  The center served 12 residents, 11 men and 1 woman.  The building was in such disrepair that light could be seen through the ceiling and walls.

At the center, Mary gave a powerful testimony of how God helped her leave a life of drug and alcohol abuse.  She opened her message with, “I KNOW you!  You're missing your teeth because of the drugs you've done!  My sons are also missing their teeth.”  She then proceeded with her amazing testimony.  Another team member followed by giving a message on “the Father’s love for you,” bringing insight  to why it is so hard to forgive yourself.  The men and woman  were on their knees, crying before the Lord.   The team ministered to each resident, then ended with communion.

Novosibirsk

After the Transformation Team taught 5 classes at a Korean-run seminary in Nobosibirsk, the Dean invited them to come back and teach for a whole week!  Ministry to the students, all former addicts who have now dedicated their lives to the Lord, was powerful.  One woman was set free from unforgiveness, fear and rejection.  After being prayed for she kept saying, “Slava Bogu!” (Glory to God).   The team also visited a home church near Novosibirsk, praying for and encouraging the members.

Novgorod Veliky

The team visited Russia’s first established city (859 AD), Novgorod Veliky, known as the “Womb of Russia.”  Accompanied by an Aglow Russia team, the Transformation team quietly prayed at strategic places throughout the city.  The Russian women with them informed them of the fascinating history of each place, giving them insight for their prayer and declarations.  From the top of a bell tower overlooking the city, they prayed God's mightiness and love, and declared Scriptures that were retrieved off the seats of those who carried the flag for Russia at the 2011 Aglow Worldwide Conference held in Houston -  Zechariah 4:6-7, and Psalm 20:6-8.

Aglow meetings were also held and there was a great response to altar calls.  On one of the nights, Fran Hallgren taught on ‘worshipping in Spirit and in truth with integrity of mind, soul, and body’.  At one point she closed her eyes to seek direction from the Holy Spirit, and felt that she was to sing There is None Like You.  She sang the first line and waited for the interpreter.  To her surprise, the whole room started singing the song, in Russian.  Together they worshiped in spirit and in truth!

The Aglow Transformation Team is an inspiring example of Aglow’s new Mission; “Forming apostolic teams that demonstrate the power of Heaven”.  If you would like more information on how you can join a Transformation Team, contact Janet Mangum at This email address is being protected from spambots.
