Aglow Botswana - Every Heart Changed

Aglow Botswana is touching their nation, and seeing hearts changed. Through outreach to the elderly and destitute, they are impacting Botswana in tangible ways.  In June, they led 12 elderly people to the Lord through home visitations.  The group takes them gifts, consisting mainly of toiletries and food.

Beauty Bogwasi, Aglow Botswana National President, writes, “We have been visiting one woman in particular who is 90 years old and lives alone.  She had 5 children, all whom have died.  All of her closest family members are also deceased.  She lives in a house that was donated to her with no water or electricity. She depends on a public standpipe for her water needs, but no one fetches the water for her.  Occasionally the neighbors will help when they are home.”

“This woman never knows where her next meal is going to come from.  She gets a food basket from the Social Services every month, but has no one to prepare the meals for her.  The food has to be cooked on an open fire, and she needs firewood since there is no stove in the home.”

“This month, we visited her two times. On Sunday she broke down and cried bitterly. She said she had not eaten anything since morning.  When she woke up, she prayed that God would send someone with food for her, because she was feeling cold and hungry, and did not want to sleep on an empty stomach. So when we arrived, she just broke down and cried bitterly saying that we were an answer to her prayer!  She danced for the Lord and prayed a blessing over our lives!  We even took her a new dress.  We found her bathing when we arrived, so we asked her to change into the new clothes.  This made her very happy.  We took her laundry home to do it for her.  Tomorrow we are taking the laundry back to her along with a cooked meal.  We are trusting God for a couple of clothing items, because the ones we cleaned are ‘finished’.  It would actually embarrass us to give them back to her. They are just threads. We are soliciting help for her to get electricity and water, through any local business that can help.”

Matthew 25:37-40 says, Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’
