Dee Chandler, Aglow President of the Central Texas Area, along with her wonderful team of leaders, invited Diane Moder, Aglow’s Islamic Awareness and Education Director, and Dr. Victor Khalil, Aglow International Advisor into their community. The purpose of the invitation was to present information to pastors, community leaders, and others facing the growing influence of Islam in America.
In the morning session, Diane spoke on “Biblically Facing the Challenge of Islam.” Many people who attended the meeting came in with no understanding of the issues confronting our nation. Several commented on being awakened by the presentation and the importance of being informed.
Diane teaches that we, as Christians, must separate the “system of Islam” from the “people of Islam.” Diane said, “The fundamentalist system holds people in bondage. Most Muslims have never heard the gospel of Christ to know that our heavenly Father is a God of love who loves everyone in the world. Sadly, nowhere in Islamic holy books does it say that Allah, the god they follow, ever loves anyone, Muslim or unbeliever. He is remote and only reveals his will. There are great differences in the two religions and by understanding and separating the two, we can love the people while unveiling the system.”
Dr. Khalil shared exciting insights from the Muslim nations. In one nation there are so many converts to Christ that the church does not have enough materials to give them. Pastors in those nations are challenged when working with men who have 3 or 4 wives and many children. Dr. Khalil also gave a report on Aglow’s television show, Diwaniya. Thousands are responding to the program from around the world, including the entire Middle East and North America.
In the afternoon the DVD, Islam in the United States, was shown followed by a time of questions and answers. The audience was very engaged and Diane said, “It was a great time of interaction.”
Dee said, “We are in awe of the success of the seminar. I always watch to see what the participants do during and at the end of a meeting. The room was packed all day and at the end, they hung around, talking and asking more questions. God wants us informed, educated, and able to take action when necessary. I would encourage every Area Team to make plans to host a seminar in your area.”
